Walking the talk

Our sustainability principleskoru5

The principles of sustainability and social responsibility inform all our activities, both internally and externally in our work with our clients, as well as in our private lives.

  • as a minimum, comply with all relevant legal requirements and to go beyond these in developing programmes that promote sustainable actions and minimise risks to the four well beings
  • contribute freely to society and the well-being of communities and the environment, including pro-bono work and charitable donations
  • choose environmentally and socially responsible products wherever possible
  • reuse and recycle waste products to the maximum extent possible
  • minimise the use of resources, including water, fuel and electricity
  • carry out judicious travel planning and offset carbon for any air travel.

Our virtual office

We conduct a significant part of our business activities in the  City of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city.

Commuting to and from our offices in the city centre became an increasing problem with growing traffic on roads, time delays and increasing fuel costs.

We decided to convert to a virtual office, with only occasional meetings held in town, and the bulk of our communications conducted via electronic means including Skype.

Taking this action has significantly decreased out carbon emissions, together with major money savings and productive time gained.

Through a commitment to careful travel planning, we endeavour to achieve several tasks on each trip we take, resulting in even greater reductions and savings.

Our probono work

Our directors donate their free time to work on the board of two non-for-profit organisations.  This allows us to apply our set of skills in the context outside of our own work environment, but also to gain experience in other industries.
